Hi. Please help. Are they the same object pronoun? I think for the second sentence, we can use either the word "who" or "whom" depending on whether we are using it in a formal or informal sense.
1. He wonders who she is.
2. He didn't know who (or whom) she was talking to.
Top answer
They are not the same. In #1, who is a subject complement. In #2, both are acceptable, with 'who' more natural and 'whom' preferred by purists.
