Same goes for South East Asia.

I can understand the reason that why South Asia is called South Asia because it lies to the south of Asia. Same goes for South East Asia.

By saying ''Same goes for...'', I mean to say that I can also understand that why South East Asia is called South East Asia.

Does the sentence ''Same goes for...'' serve the purpose of what I am trying to say?

(South Asia is part of the Asian continent, so it can't lie south of it (Asia) - it can (obviously) lie south of North Asia! (lol)
