"same exact"/"exact same"?

I hear people say "same exact something" all the time these days which I highly doubt if it's even correct.
I personally think it should be "exact same" instead.
Just making sure, am I right, though?

Both are idiomatic, but technically, exact is redundant, since if something is the same, it's naturally identical. The same goes for exactly the same. Just same is sufficient.
