Salutation to an institution?

Hello,

What kind of salutation does one use when referring to an insitution? A 'Dear National Academy of Development of Software,' is obviously absurd. But what else should be written? Perhaps 'To whom it may concern,' (and if that is the correct form, the should all words in the phrase start with a capital?) with the National Academy.. on top as a kind of heading? Or should the National Academy.. be simply left on its own as a heading without any salutations.

Thank you in advance and sorry if similar questions have been posted before, but time is really pressing me.

It's rare that you would write to an organisation in that way and not very effective. Who would they give the letter to? Pass it round every single employee?

  • You would normally at least put a department down, and then you could start 'Dear Sir or Madam' if you didn't know a name.

Rare as it is, I think that's just the exception. I really know hardly anything about the organisation. This is sort of a response to an ad; an application for the courses the institution offers. I doubt they have departments there. 'Dear Sir or Madam' is a wonderful option, of course, but the organization need be mentioned somewhere I think.

And what about this 'To whom it may concern'?

I am trying, "Dear hiring professional:" What do you think of this salutation in lieu of a cover letter for my resume and application? Thanks for your time! Enjoy the day. - Haze
