what is the correct way to write this type of salutation...
'Dear Mr. Michaels Jr.:' or
'Dear Mr. Michaels Jr:'

As far as I know, the Jr. is used only when the first name is included. As an address on an envelope, I would write Mr.

As far as I know, the Jr. is used only when the first name is included. As an address on an envelope, I would write Mr. John Michaels, Jr. (note the comma)
