Salutation

what is the salutation to be used while writing a letter to a person whom we do not know personally. Should i use sincerely or faithfully?

If you use the person's name then you can use sincerely. If you use Sir then use Faithfully. I think of it as you can't use S(Sir) to start and S(Sincerely) to finish together.
