Salad?

I don't know why I torture myself by reading this lady's books, and I won't go into the many reasons I have for disliking them, but I'd like to know whether the stuff below is a genuine pondian difference, or whether it's just another of her idiosyncrasies:
"... unmolded salad. I mixed the gelatin into the boiling juice, added chilled juice, then folded in all the fruits."
Now, I'm not sure whether there is a non-AmE term for this dish - I think we just called it 'jelly with fruit in' when I was a kid - but I can't think of any way in which this could be included under the heading 'salad'.
(As I was quoting, I left the spelling of 'gelatine' as it was.)
