Saint Valentine and Claudius II

Good evening.

I've read this text on the supposed real story of Saint Valentine's martyrdom: http://www1.cbn.com/st-valentine-real-story.

Then I've checked the entry 'Claudius II' in Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claudius_Gothicus) and I've found out that the involvement of Claudius II in Saint Valentine's death is controversial. The word 'legend' is used there.

Can I say the following?

The episode of Saint Valentine related to / in connection with Claudius II is referred to as a legend.

Thank you.
