"Said" used in place of "that" or "the"

Is it appropriate to use "said" when talking about something described previously? How is this used?

For example:

"The data tells a very interesting story about our recent improvement efforts. Please forward said data when it is updated."

Or similar.

Yes, but it seems to me that only lawyers and judges use it. It's not used in ordinary writing.

Right. I assume "lazy people" won't say that. I mean those who say "we is" instead of "we are".
