Sagged against the wall

Hi,
Can you explain what the words in bold mean?

Overcome with fatigue, Peter sagged against the wall of the shed, still clutching his coalscuttle.

Does it mean Peter, originally standing against the wall, now began to drop along the wall to the ground ?
Thank you for answer.
