safari/expedition

Cindy is looking forward to her safari in Africa.

When "safari" is mentioned in daily conversation, does it refer to "expediton" or exactly "hunting expedition?" Thanks.

Not necessarily hunting. These days a safari is usually just a holiday where you go to look at wild animals, not hunt them.

Thanks, nona.

To make sure, does it have something to do with looking at wild animals? Could it just refer to "expedition" by any chance?

Thanks.

No, it would really only be understood as going to see (or hunt) wild animals in Africa.
