Saddled with, curbside porter

Hi, What mean "Saddled with" here? I understand its literal mean but not the indirect one I need an example ...

In "Curbside porter" I understand that Curbside is something like "Pavement" but I don't know what it means Pavement porter.

"John Kerry was saddled with more baggage than a curbside porter at Dulles airport."
