Sadder or more sad

Evening all,

I've been just watching a video about how to play some minor chords on guitar and the tutor said:

Now let's make the minor blues, it's gonna be a little bit more sad.

Is more sad correct?

That's the normal pattern; it's just that 'more sad' is not unacceptable.
