Grammar

"'s" and "of"

Hi everybody,

what is correct please?

(1) an item ID

or

(2) ID of an item

The first one sounds better than the second one. However the second seems to be more grammatically correct than the first.

Thanks and regards

In AmE, we generally prefer the possessive form rather than the "of" form. I would say "an item's ID".
