1. Combine each group of sentences below into one sentence that contains only two main clauses connected by the coordinating conjuntion in parentheses. Separate the main clauses with a comma. 1.Parents were once legally required to bestow the father's surname on their children. These laws have been contested in court. They have been found invalid. (but) My sentence is : The laws that parents were once legally required to bestow the father's surname on their children have been contested in court, but they have been found invalid. Please check.

2. Must a "sentence" includes both subject and predicate? Or if it expresses a complete thought,even though no subject or predicate, still can be a sentence? Then i have a question: Forgiving/Forgive? my faults, ..... . I always don't know that if i start a sentence, must i use gerund/ noun be the first word Or verb also can be the first word? Please tell me the usage.
