Russell Brand's accent

At 2 seconds, Russell Brand says something like this:

"Yeah it's with--with _________ a bit of a plateau...since we learned that that's a _______________."

I can't figure out what he exactly he said in the blanks.

Could someone help me out with this?

And by the way, is his accent a common British accent?

Yea, it's with - we (we've) hit a bit of a plateau that's a macabre joke. I speak American English and cannot distinguish all the different British accents. I'd say it is common.

Thanks for filling in the blanks and letting me know about his accent being normal British.
So this is it:
Yea, it's with - we (we've) hit a bit of a plateau...since we learned that that's a macabre joke.
He seemed to be pointing to the backdrop when he said "that's a macabre joke".
I know what a macabre joke is but I can't quite figure out what he meant by the phras

listeneverCould you please explain what he meant by that?
I haven't seen these characters before, so I'm not sure.
Perhaps he is referring to the fake city view in the background that fools the audience into thinking that they are in a very expensive penthouse overlooking a major city.

Isn't a macabre joke a disturbing joke involving death/injury?
How could overlooking a major city from a penthouse be a disturbing joke?

Macabre just means "horrifying, shocking." Maybe he has acrophobia, or is shocked by the deception. Like I said, I don't know these characters. He repeats the word later in his garrulous ravings, so maybe he just likes the sound of the word as it rolls off the tongue.
