Rush hour vs peak hour?

Hello there,

I've always used the term rush hour and never heard people use peak hour. However, a Chinese friend of mine uses it quite a lot and she claims that it's more of a British thing (she lived there for quite a while). I checked in a few dictionaries and they don't list peak hour as a synonym of rush hour.

I'm wondering... what is your take on this? Thank you!
