runs/would?

Hello,

If I run fast, I would be home in one hour.
If I ran fast, I would be home in one hour.

Can it be RUN and RAN here?

Grammar books say RAN/WOULD and WERE TO RUN/WOULD.

But I find many people using PRESENT TENSE/WOULD.

Can you explain?

Thank you.
