What is difference between the two sentences?

what is meaning of "down the path"?

'Down the path' is the opposite direction to 'up the path'!

This is the same idea as in your other question. See my answer to that.

"up" is not a very exact term in these sentences. It can mean "to a higher position" or "to a position which is closer".
"down" is its opposite, meaning "to a lower position" or "to a position which is farther away".
