Running ashore, the ship hit and smashed a house.

The ship hit and smashed a house after running ashore/ after it ran ashore/ as it ran ashore.

Could we omit 'after' and rewrite it as follows (to convey the same sense as above)?

Running ashore, the ship hit and smashed a house.
