Running

Hi,

1) What does ‘walk a flat stretch’ mean in this sentence?

“After having run five kilometres, I had to stop and walk a flat stretch.”

2) When you run long-distance and you hit the wall or you simply feel tired, can you also use the word fatigue in casual speech or is it considered too formal?

“Today’s run was great. I didn’t even feel overwhelmed by fatigue.”

“My morning run went great. I didn’t once feel like fatigue was taking over my body.”

“My run was great. I didn’t even get hit by fatigue.”

I know that there are plenty of other much simpler options to use, but I’m curious about the above written sentences.

Thank you very much!
