Run based

Hi. I heard someone talking about a ball game. It was "my son didn't catch a foul ball, but after the game, they got to run based." I looked up the phrase "run based," but I didn't get the answer. Could you please tell me the meaning of the phrase?

Thank you.

Safrar they got to run based. This doesn't mean anything to me. I suspect you misheard something or maybe you heard only part of something.
