Rule for figuring out when to use "when" regarding time/day

(1) I am looking forward to the day (when) we meet again.

(2) I really liked the time (when) my parents gave me a lot of pocket money.

(3) I really enjoyed the time (when) we worked together for two years.

(4) We both have a sweet memory of that day (when) John and Mare were married.

My non-native English speaking friends and I have not been able to figure out a "rule" for figuring out when to use "when" in the sentences we made up.

We are not sure when we need the word "when". Is there a rule for that? Please help us. Thank you very much.
