Ruin the curve

Hello.

My 68 would be a "C" instead of a "D" but she ruined the curve. I heard that it might refer to cheating. Does that mean that cheating causes ruining the curve and as a result you have worse grades than you could've had if you didn't cheat? So, what does it mean?
