Ruin and destroy

Which verb is more suitable with the following context?

To destroy (ruin) one's life.

Also, can I use "future" instead of life. Is that acceptable?

Thanks!

For most contexts I would use ruin . You could use destroy if the effect is dramatic and extreme. You can also use future , but it seems to me that it would be less common.
