Roxanne

Could I ask a question?

Does the "a" in the name "Roxanne" pronounced like the "a" in "apple" or like the "e" in "desk"?

Thank you.

Sorry for bothering you, Mister Micawber.

Another question please.

Is the "o" in "Roxanne" pronounced like "o" in the word "hot"?

Thank you again.

Like 'hot' or 'rocks', yes.

It's a short /a/, more like the "a" in "apple" -- although the "an" combination is a little stronger and, because the second syllable is stressed more than the first, you should say: roxAN instead of ROXen. The shift from short /a/ to schwa (or empty /e/) only happens when it's found in an unstressed syllable. For instance: in the word /INStens/.
