Is this expression OK? Can you please give me a better suggestion for this expression in the context: the so called elitist or true/real literature is rottening of boredom''

(because nobody reads it)

I think we'd need more context here. It sounds as if it might mean 'rotten with ennui'; but it's difficult to be sure.

I like the word ennui very much. It makes me think of my favourite hero Adrian Mole who used it quite often (at least he did so in Croatian translations).

Here is the context:

Igor Mandic, Croatian journalist and writer, used to joke in his own fashion, by pointing out that the so called elitist or true/real literature

In that case, you might use 'dying of ennui'.

The slight air of personification seems to suit the context.
