Thanks for your replies.

How can I rephrase the sentence from my perspective i.e. with "I" as subject as in
1. "I gave my friend's roll call, who was not present in class."
2. "I answered my friend's roll call, who was not present in class"
Are these sentences correct ?

It is not your friend's roll call - it remains your teacher's roll call.

I answered for my friend at roll call Monday.
