Roding by my house, sitting by/on my side, standing by/on my side

I saw him roding by my house.
He crinkled, tore the paper and chucked it away.
I saw a heap of books one above the another
He was sitting by my side.
He was standing by my side.
He was sitting on my side.
He was standing on my side.

Please correct my sentences and suggest me nicer versions too.

I mean "saw him passing by my house riding his bike" by first sentence.
