Rock Bands Followed By Singular or Plural Verb?

Which musical groups below should be followed by a singular or plural verb? I think that all examples below may be correct. Let me know your opinion.

1. Boston is on tour.

2. Alice in Chains is a great band.

3. Alice in Chains is on tour.

4. Metallica is playing at the Pontiac Silver Dome.

5. Coldplay is a phenomenal group.

6. The Beatles are the greatest rock band ever.

7. The Who are on tour.

It depends on the ending.
singulars: Boston, Metallica, Coldplay, and The Who
plurals: Alice in Chains and The Beatles

All are OK, but as an American, I would say The Who is on tour.

In AmE, yes, but speakers of BrE would treat them as plural.

That would be singular in AmE.
