ritual of vs habit

Could you please explain the differences between these two?

ritual of lighting a cigar in the noon
habit of lighting a cigar in the noon

Top answer

A ritual is deliberate and ceremonial, usually done with reverence and respect. There is no thinking in habitual behavior. There are many habits that are bad.

A habit can be a repeated action that you don't even think about. It just happens.
He has a habit of scratching his ear when he is thinking.
