rip off

I knew two meanings for "rip off", "steal" and "shredding", but does "rip off", in the meaning of shredding, has a kind of erotic implication? Like a person rip off his/her clothes.

Top answer

"Rip off" does not mean "shred", it means "remove violently", or "remove by ripping", the way you take the top sheet of paper off a pad. It has no sexual connotations in isolation, but in the context of a sexual encounter, to rip one's own clothes off denotes eagerness, and to rip off the other person's clothes is criminal, unless they want you to, of course.
