Rigorous curriculum

Does the following sentence sound good?

"It has a rigorous curriculum that gave me a strong foundation in the knowledge of computing."

It's grammatically sound. I might question the phrass "the knowledge of". Would it be better to leave that out?

It's grammatically sound.

I might question the phrass "the knowledge of". Would it be better to leave that out? You would know better than I about this, as I'm not familiar with the field. "foundation in computer science"?
