Right tenses of the verbs

a question:
How can I know which right tenses of the verbs I need in number 3 and 8 ?
Do we have some rules ?

The correct answer for 3 is: "then when I have spent some time with her...".
For 8, it's: "as soon as we have had lunch on Sunday."
Personally, I find these questions quite difficult and many native speakers would not express themselves in that manner.
Especially in an informal conversation.

The answers are 'have spent' and 'have had'.

They need to complete (perfect) the presently undertaken activities to move on to the next activity. Therefore, present perfect tense is used.
