right answer

Hi Teachers

I agree that Joseph is intelligent, but his sister, Frances, is just………… .

A) so cleverly B) as clever C) such clever D) cleverly enough E) more cleverly

the answer is b,,,,,I can't omit the options a, d and e because to be verb can not be followed by adverb, and I decreased the options to b and c and then I havent been able to find the real answer ,,,Could you tell me grammatically why the answer is b?

thanks

Dear Redkiddy c isn't correct because you can't use such + adjective we use: such + noun or such + adjective + noun eg. She's such a clever woman. Don't be such a fool.

Dear Redkiddy

c isn't correct because you can't use such + adjective

we use:

such + noun or such + adjective + noun

eg. She's such a clever woman.

Don't be such a fool.

so + adjective or so + adverb

Suppose your height and mine are the same. You are just as tall as I. I am just as tall as you.

just as means equally. "just su

No, Redkiddy. Joseph is not more intelligent than his sister.

With the opening words "I agree", we are supposed to imagine a conversation like this:

A -- I think Joseph is very clever; in fact, I think he is more clever than his sister Frances.
B -- I agree that Joseph is intelligent (clever), but his sister is just as (equally) clever. Neither is more
