Ride vs. get on

If somebody is standing on the boat, you can say that he/she is riding on the boat but you can't say he/she is getting on the boat. Am I correct?

Hi, 'Riding on the boat' is not really idiomatic. Often, we just simply say 'He is on the boat'. 'Getting on the boat ' is the brief action of taking your feet off the land and putting them on the boat .
