if a frog has to jump 4 metres to get to the wall, and every jump he jumps half his previous distance how long will it take for him to get to the wall

Why would he do that? That way he'll never get to the wall. He may be close enough "for all practical purposes", however, e.g., close enough to snap up a tasty insect that's on the wall.
