Rich countries have helped poorer countries by giving money for decades now. It’s time for a change. This essay will argue whether developed countries should give other types of support to developing countries or not. In my opinion, it is necessary for rich countries to give other types of support rather than giving money to poor countries.
On the one hand, some people believe that financial support is a good option since the countries can choose what to do with the money. For example, if they have more schools than hospitals, they will put more money into hospitals. In addtion, it also more convenient for developed countries to provide money rather than having to buy resources and send it to developing countries. For instance, if a rich country would like to provide a poor country with school equipments like desks, chairs and boards, they will have to buy it and then send a plane to transport the equipments to that country.
On the other hand, it is important for developed countries to find ways to invest in developing nations, instead of just donating money. Because when developed countries give money to undeveloped countries, it will only help citizens in these countries to solve short-term problems, and it will not last long. Moreover, to make matters worse, governments in developing countries may misuse the money they are given because they do not have the resources or the know-how to tackle the causes of poverty. Therefore, there is a risk that the money will not go to the people that need it the most. Furthermore, even if financially supported, third world countries still need experts in the fields of science, law and medicine in order to encourage their development. Scientists, lawyers and doctors can only be trained by professional and systematic education and training programs, therefore more practical and suitable in the context of developing nations.
In conclusion, this essay argue that there are other forms of support other than financial support to countries in need. In my opinion, giving money is not always the best way to support poor countries.
