Ribbed sweater

Hi

Would you say that the adjective ribbed (eg ribbed sweater) is common among native speakers?

He came to the party in jeans and a blue ribbed t-shirt.

Thanks,

Tom

"ribbed sweater", yes, since it is a knitted garment, but "ribbed T-shirt" sounds a bit odd to me. I don't really associate "ribbing" with the sort of lightweight material that T-shirts are normally made from.
