Topic: People naturally resist making changes to their lives.
What kind of problems can this cause? What solutions can you suggest?.Heraclitus once said: “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man”. Apparently, changes in life is inevitable, and nothing can stay the same forever. However, many people still naturally resist changing themselves, which will cause lots of problems to the quality of their life.
One consequence of this attitude is that it can cause conflicts in many relationships. As some people around us start to move on and we still try to stay the same, the crack between us and them appears and gradually expands. As a result, we are easier to be annoyed, easier to be angry with other people. Then, serious conflicts are unavoidable. Another problem when we do not want to change is that we cannot develop ourselves. Everybody have good and bad sides. Learning to accept that and being ready to change ourselves for better are parts of making our life more meaningful. How can we remove the bad habits, promote the good ones if we try to be the same forever?
How can we solve this problem? A little of understanding about this can help. People do not want to change because they fear. What they fear is that if they change, they can lose what they have been trying to build forever. What they fear is the unknown and uncertainty after they change. As a general rule, we jump into the unknown if we believe what awaits us is worth it, but if we are not sure of what we will find, we are likely to fear and be hesitant. Therefore, we have to make them realize that changes can benefit them a lot. Talk to them honestly, spend time to understand their feeling and you will find that they are the people who need help most, rather than being criticized. Families and friends should act in these positions to give them more encouragements.
In conclusion, it is undeniable that changing is vital to our life and self-development. If you are this type of person, do not be hesitant to seek for advice from families and friends to change for better.
