Rewrite the sentence

I've done a rewriting sentences exercise and I saw this sentence: You will eventually appreciate what I am getting at.

The answer is: In time you will appreciate what I am getting at.

I wonder if I can use "in the end" instead of "in time" and which is more correct? Why the answer is "in time", not "in the end"?
