ReWrite

Please help me rewrite the following sentences:

1) She advised him to lower the rent.
1.1) She said: "If I..." {I can guess they mean: If I was you I would lower the rent}

2)"I would go abroad this year if I had money"
2.1) He said.....{Is "He said he would have gone abroad that year if he had had money" correct ? (reported speech)}.

Thank you

1) If I WERE you? Why "were" and not "was"? Doesn't "were\was" refer to "I"?

2) I don't understand. Shouldn't it be "that year"? You can't write "this" since you don't know when I am reporting - maybe I am reporting the year after. What is the correct version, if so?

Thanks
