How to express the following ideas in proverbial saying?

Take San Fransico Giants win 2010 World Series for example. After more than half a century's struggle, the Giants win their first World Series title since 1954.

Take another example, if someone worked from the basic level to understand the operation condition of his professional work. After twenty years' training and cultivating, he was finally promoted to be the CEO of his company.

Is the following sentence acceptable?

"All sufferings have their reward."
