That is not what the word means. All AStars meant was that styles far outside the norms are always offensive to the sensibilities of the public.

That would be the interior colors. Because "painting" was a wrong word, I originally thought you meant "The exterior colors and the interior design of the house are revolutionary." I now amend that to "The interior colors and interior design of the house are revolutionary." That is cramming too much into a sentence, though. Brevity may be the soul of wit, but it is often the kiss of death for prose.
