Is it correct to say "In today's class we did some revision of the previous chapter".

In North America that means that you rewrote the chapter, so no, it's not correct in AmE.

I'm fairly certain it's OK in BrE, however. It means what we Americans call 'review'. We'd say that we reviewed the previous chapter.

After seeing Clive's answer, apparently my "North America" has to be further restricted to the U.S., that is, not including Canad
