Review my Statement of purpose

I have written my SOP and need some help in refining it. Please help me with it as soon as possible.
here is my SOP:

To successfully pursue any goal, the most important resource required is knowledge. As I stand at the crossroads to my future, I have chosen to tread the path of knowledge and find my calling.
Right from my childhood I had a deep fascination for science. Be it my obsession to break open my toys and build something else out of them, repairing the videogame joysticks or to badger my parents and teachers with my incessant questions, I was always curious to learn. I used to wonder how simple things like clocks, locks, clicking pens work and tried to build mechanisms for them. My school days paved me way to the world of science. I had a natural penchant for mathematics. Keeping in mind my aptitude and interests, engineering was the most viable career choice before me. Undoubtedly one of the best places to give my dreams a concrete shape was the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur. My hard work, perseverance and strong aspiration helped me clear the daunting AIEEE Entrance exam with flying colors. Apart from merely being inquisitive in my attempt to understand how the world functions, anticipation in excitement as to how my better understanding can be a positive difference to the universal impact on technology has motivated me to pursue a graduate- research career.
The decision to specialize in Mechanical Engineering was a conscious one as not only I found it to be highly diversified and having a huge scope of application but also because of my interest in robotics. I used to watch robotic competitions like ‘Robowars’ and ‘Robocon’ on national television and was fascinated by them.
In my first year of college, I was more than glad to know that there is a robotics club in my college and they also participate in Robocon and I took no time to join it. There I built my first robot which just had 3 wheels and was controlled using DPDT switches. I can never forget that moment when it started moving. From then onwards there was no stopping. I participated in each and every robotics competitions held in my college and the ones nearby. I look back and see that I had built 10 robots in my first year though they were simple. Then we got started off building robots for ‘Robocon 2011’. It was during this time, I gained the technical knowledge about motors, sensors, different metals and sections.
During the vacation after my second year, I worked with the Robotics and Automation Group of CSIR-CMERI although I knew that I wouldn’t be getting any certificate for it. I worked on the topic of “Forward and Inverse Kinematics of a Robotic Frog”. Here, I used D-H parameters to compute the forward kinematics and compared the feasibility of using the Jacobian method and Artificial Neural Networks method to compute the Inverse Kinematics of the segmented hind legs of the Robotic frog. In order to apply these methods I used Matlab, where I had to learn coding from the basics. I successfully completed the project and have also submitted a paper which got accepted in the 4th International Conference on Intelligent Human computer Interaction which will be held in IIT Kharagpur during 27-29 Dec, 2012.
This experience had instilled in me the confidence to realize that as the stature of intellectual challenges posed to me grew to be more demanding, I was growing in my ability to tackle them and this made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. In addition, I also learnt to peruse through scholarly articles in scientific journals and learnt to recognize the challenges that posed themselves between one’s ambitious conceptualization and practical implementation by interacting with various authorities at CMERI.
In my third year in college, I worked on the topic of Neuro-Fuzzy systems under Dr. N B in which I had done a parametric study and optimized the system for a medical depression data which had 7 inputs and 1 output. This work has been published in the International Journal of Computer Applications, Sept 2012. At the end of my third year I fell sick due to Hepatitis-A and had to skip my final exams. I was advised to take rest for at least 50 days. So, a large part of my summer vacation had been wasted. After recovering, due to lack of time I took up a short project in the topic of “Building a Graphical User Interface for ReDySim” in IIT Delhi under Prof. S K Saha. In this project I initially learnt about Robot Dynamics and the working of a recursive dynamic algorithm named ‘ReDySim’ which was developed at IIT Delhi and then developed a GUI for it using Matlab-GUIDE. After returning to my college, I had to write all the previous semester exams in the form of supplementary exams. Then, I learnt Genetic Algorithm and I am currently working on ‘Genetic Neuro Fuzzy Systems’ to optimize the system for the same medical data so that I can compare the two systems (Neuro Fuzzy and Genetic Neuro Fuzzy). During all of these projects, I had to undertake an extensive literature survey and I also realized the importance of soft computing methods in Robotics. This has given me a very thorough understanding of the subject and has further enhanced my interest.
For me the decision to undertake graduate studies was a natural one as during the course of my research work, I did feel the need to understand the subject to a greater depth and on a fundamental basis. Specifically, I wish to specialize in the field of Robotics and Soft Computing. I have come to this decision based on my interest and aptitude, the immense potential of research and the huge scope of both theoretical and experimental work. In ten years from now, I see myself as a researcher applying my knowledge for the betterment of the human race and make a significant contribution to the scientific community across the globe. Teaching is another interesting career option before me as I have always enjoyed guiding and advising people
I have always believed in the all-round development of the personality and hence found time out of my academics to indulge in football, photography and travelling. Apart from this I have developed an interest in film making and have been directing a short film which will be completed by Feb, 2013. Also being the joint pupil leader in my school showed me a lot about how to manage people, about teamwork and managing objectives.
A personal statement is a very abstract thing - literally, putting oneself into words. I hope that I have done an honest job of giving you the clearest possible picture of me. If there are opportunities to learn so much from the everyday occurrences of life, I can only anticipate in excitement how much more there would be to learn from life at National University of Singapore. I cannot think of a better place to grow in and foster my eventual professional goals. To make a difference, as a researcher and an entrepreneur, to the world by helping to develop a green future using my strengths and I am more than positive that this is the route for me.
I hope that both my qualifications and my qualities will be suitable to what you are looking for. I would be most delighted to be accepted at National University of Singapore, a wonderful avenue to learn more about how the world works and how it can be helped to work better, and thereby try and make a positive difference to it and grow to be a better person in the process.
