Letter Writing
Review my cover letter
Hello,
I put my resumé on a Canadian Jobseekers website. It also needed a cover letter, but I don't know if everything I wrote is oké (like grammar or just the words itself). It's a very hard to write such a cover letter, because it's not addressed to anyone and all kinds of companies/recruiters can read it.
Please help me with this one, give me some suggestions.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am a Dutch woman who wants work and live in Canada. I like the country and speak/write English well.
Some friends told us that Canada is looking for skilled workers from abroad, this could be the oppertunity that I was waiting for. I already started the application for a permenant residency.
Currently I am an Database Administrator for Sybase databases, although I also have some knowledge of DB2, MSAccess and MySQL. Because I also posted my resumé on this site, I would recommend to read this. It contains all of my working experience and bussiness knowledge so far.
I like to work in a team, but when necessary I can also work independent. I have a keen eye for detail, but know how to implement this into a "big picture". When I foresee problems I will not hesitate to notify my manager. I like to solve problems and I can learn very quickly. I take responcebility for my work. I will strive for quality as well as quantity.
People describe me as a pleasant colleague to work with, who is flexible and can be independent when necessary.
Someone who is appreciated very much for her profession niche.
In the future I would like to be an Database Administrator who understands and can work with all kinds of different databases. Understand use and functioning on different platforms. I would like to be not just an Database Administrator but become an Database Architecture. Someone that can design datamodels and can give advice.
