Some people assume that it is not essential to have many different languages in today’s world as it makes our life become more straightforward. From my perspective, I wholeheartedly disagree with this statement and this essay will indicate how languages play an important role in our life.

Preserving all the languages in the world is a token of respect and appreciation to each different culture. This is simply because language is an explicit demonstration of a specific culture. Consequently, it is of paramount importance that people of each ethnic group should retain their own mother tongue even if there is just a small population. This is perfectly exemplified that a large number of languages in Vietnam were created through many years of long-lasting history, with many contributions from their ancestors. As a result, it is vitally important in Vietnamese’s life and if it is cleared out, almost all cultural and historical value will therefore fade away.

Beside the practical reason expressed above, reservation of different dialects also contributes to the whole cultural diversity around the world. Firstly, our lives will be more colorful and meaningful with a rich variety of distinctive dialects from different cultures. Secondly, with the variety of languages, it can bring tremendous benefits as it plays a role in developing tourism and cultural exchanges. This was clearly demonstrated in a recent research that people’s preference in travel mainly derived from their curiosity in cultures that have instinct language and are dissimilar to their own.

In conclusion, from all the reasons mentioned above, I unreservedly disagree with the viewpoint that it is unimportant if some languages should be cleared out.
