Graceling by Kristen Cashore, is a fantasy novel set in the fictional land of the Seven Kingdoms. It tells the story of the main character Katsa, who is a graceling, which means that she is gidted with a grace. Her grace is killing, that’s why King Randa, her uncle, uses her for his dirty works. Katsa tired of being Randa’s tool tries to find her own path.
The novel contains a gallery of interesting characters. Katsa is an amazing role model for girls. She is strong, self- sufficient and clever. These attributes will help her to overcome all the difficult situations that destiny has prepared for her. Po, one of the heroes of this story will be the counterpart of the female main character. He will solve the problems with wiseness, and thanks to his grace he will be able to fight against the enemy.
Not only the characters make this novel an entertaining pass-time, but also the beautifully described lansapes. As mentioned above, the story developes in the Seven Kingdoms, each one of these different from the others. In the book one travels through endless fields, climbs up fierce monuntains and crosses the seas.
I was fascinated by the magical world of Graceling. In my opinion, this book is worth reading, especially by young adults fans of the fantasy genre. It is an inspiring novel which teaches how to surppase the obstacles of life.
