I am an Eagle Scout and an active member of Troop 682 of the Boy Scouts of America. I have devoted much of my time to both helping the needy via fundraisers and food drives, promoting smart conservation behavior and teaching extreme survival techniques. I have been active in my Troop since 6th grade, and have risen through many various leadership responsibilities in my tenure to the covetted rank of Eagle Scout. Only about 2.5% of all that enroll in the Boy Scout organization as scouts achieve the final rank of Eagle Scout. History shows that some of ’s great leaders, such as the 38^th President of the United States Gerald Ford, the first man on the moon Neil Armstrong, and the father of Microsoft Bill Gates, were Eagle Scouts. As the senior scout, I lead by example and mentor others on how to conduct themselves responsibly. . I served as my Troop's Senior Patrol Leader for 8 months, the highest leadership authority in the Troop. This was the time when I fully embraced my leadership role, directly influencing every scout in the Troop. Even though my term as Senior Patrol Leader has ended, I continue to heavily participate in Troop activities while providing help and guidance to the younger scouts with non-Scout activities, such as school work and personal problems. I take great pride in the scouts I lead, because I know that it makes me an important part of their lives and I can help them become model citizens.
